On Monday, November 11, the department responded to a structure fire on
Courtland Street.
On Wednesday, October 23, the department responded to a barn fire on
Franklin Street.
On Wednesday, October 23, the department responded to a crash involving a
motorcycle on Washington Street. One patient was transported by Boston
MedFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester
from a landing zone on South Street which had been secured by the chief and Engine 4.
On Monday, October 7, the department responded to an electrical
investigation on Washington Street. Eversource Electric was notified and
responded.
On Thursday, October 3, Chief Michael Cassidy and Deputy Alan Greendale
responded mutual aid to Sherborn, providing incident management assistance
at a landing zone which had been secured by Ashland Engine 2 at Fessenden
Field. A patient from a motor vehicle crash on Washington Street was
transported by Boston MedFlight 2 to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
On Thursday, September 19, Fire Chief Michael Cassidy received the 2024
Fire & Life Safety Educator of the Year Award from Massachusetts State
Fire Marshal Jon Davine at the 29th Annual Fire and Life Safety Education
Conference in Southbridge, MA.
On Saturday, July 27, the department responded to a lawn mower fire which
had begun to spread to a brush fire; access was off Maple Street.
On Sunday, July 21, the backup ambulance responded to a motor vehicle crash
on Prentice Street. An individual was transported to a landing zone which
had been secured by the chief and Engine 1, for transport by Boston
MedFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester.
On Sunday, July 21, the ambulance and Engine 4 responded to a medical
emergency on Scott Drive. An individual was transported to a landing zone on
Hollis Street which had been secured by Engine 3, for transport by UMass
Memorial LifeFlight to UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in
Worcester.
On Monday, July 15, during a regularly scheduled training night, Ladder 1
personnel practiced rescue over ladder off a roof, Engine 1 personnel
practiced brush fire operations, and Engine 4 personnel practiced advancing
hose lines and flowing water.
On Sunday, July 14, the chief responded to a District 14 dive team
activation in Sherborn. Engine 3 provided station coverage during the
incident, and responded to a medical emergency on Village Way.
On Thursday, July 11, members of the department stopped by the Junior Police
Academy at the Holliston High School; explaining the role of Emergency
Medical Technicians (EMTs) and showing some of the tools and equipment used
in the pre-hospital setting.
On Tuesday, July 9, members of the department stopped by the Junior Police
Academy at the Holliston High School, explaining the role of firefighters as
community helpers, and demonstrating the cooling effect of a hose line with
a nozzle set to a fog pattern.
On Tuesday, July 2, the department responded to a report of a concrete mixer
truck off Prentice Street on its side. Rescue 1 stabilized the vehicle, allowing
the ambulance crew to safely access the driver; who was then transported to
UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester.
On Monday, July 1, the department responded to an outside fire on Kathryn
Lane.
On Saturday, June 29, members of the department joined the police, DPW, and
a local contractor in a birthday parade in the Queens neighborhood.
On Wednesday, June 19, the chief presented at the NFPA Conference & Expo in
Orlando, FL.
On Saturday, June 15, current and former members of Engine 4 gathered to
celebrate the recent retirement of FF Shawn Lynch, Sr.
On Friday, June 14, the department responded to a report of smoke coming
from the rear of a home on Mohawk Path.
On Wednesday, June 12, members of the department observed a fire drill on
Lowland Street, after which crews did a walk-through of the manufacturing
facility.
On Saturday, June 8, the chief presented at the International Hazardous
Materials Response Teams conference in Baltimore, MD.
On Friday, June 7, members of the department presented fire and life safety
education to first grade classes at the Placentino Elementary School.
On Wednesday, May 29, the department investigated an alarm activation at an
elderly housing complex on Summer Street.
On Tuesday, May 28, EMT O'Connell stopped by the Service Learning Projects
presentation at the High School, to support the students with whom the
department had collaborated earlier in the month.
On Monday, May 27 participated in the Memorial Day parade.
On Saturday, May 25, the department provided station coverage at the Ashland
Public Safety Complex while crews from multiple communities were committed
to a structure fire at a condo complex.
On Thursday, May 23, the department stood by for the flag retirement
ceremony at Lake Grove Cemetery.
On Friday, May 17, the department responded to a spill on Marshall and
Prentice Streets. MassDEP was notified.
On Wednesday, May 15, the department responded to an alarm activation on
Summer Street.
On Tuesday, May 14, the chief and members of the department shared fire and
life safety education tips with residents of Mission Springs Housing.
On Saturday, May 11, the department participated in the 300th Celebration
parade.
On Sunday, May 5, the department joined HYBSA coaches and K-6 players in
their parade to mark the beginning of the season.
On Wednesday, May 1, Rescue 1, Engines 1 and 4, the ambulance, paramedics
from Medway Fire, and an ambulance from Sherborn Fire responded to a motor
vehicle crash on Washington Street. Two patients were transported to UMass
Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester. Two individuals
denied injury; signed waivers were obtained.
On Monday, April 29, members of Engine 4 continued training with extrication
equipment on Hopping Brook Road.
On Monday, April 29, the chief participated in a Community Risk Reduction
panel discussion at the Congressional Fire Services Institute's 34th
Annual National Fire and Emergency Services Symposium and Dinner.
On Saturday, April 27, the department extinguished a brush fire on Central
Street with the assistance of the Department of Conservation and Recreation
(DCR) Bureau of Forest Fire Control.
On Saturday, April 27, members of the department participated in the
practical evolutions of a 2-day Department of Fire Services' EVOC (Emergency
Vehicle Operations Course).
On Wednesday, April 24, members of the ladder company assisted the Maynard
Fire Department with a firefighter candidate assessment center.
On Tuesday, April 23, Engine 4 secured a landing zone on South Street, so
that Boston MedFlight could transport a medical patient to Mass General
Brigham by helicopter.
On Monday, April 22, Rescue 1, Engine 4, the ambulance, paramedics from
Medway Fire, the Holliston Police, and representatives of the Cummings
School of Veterinary Medicine of Tufts University trained on extrication,
treatment, transport, and transfer of care of an injured canine on Hopping
Brook Road.
On Friday, April 19, the department bid a final farewell to Retired Deputy
Chief Arthur "Jim" Moore. Following a funeral service at Chesmore's Funeral
Home, he was laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in Holliston.

On Monday, April 15, Engine 1, Engine 3 and Ambulance 2 crews supported
mutual aid partners in Hopkinton and Ashland during the running of the BAA
Boston Athletic Association Boston Marathon.
On Wednesday, April 10, the on duty ambulance crew joined Chief Michael
Cassidy and Assistant Chief Brian Kelley at fire drill at the Robert Adams
Middle School.
On Tuesday, March 26, Chief Michael Cassidy testified at the Joint
Committee on Ways and Means at the State House. He is shown after his

On Sunday, March 24, crews responded to a motor vehicle crash on Washington
Street. Ambulances from Ashland, Hopkinton and Sherborn Fire Departments
also responded. Three patients were transported to UMass Memorial Medical
Center, University Campus in Worcester.
On Friday, March 22, the chief presented at the Illinois Fire Inspectors
Association's 2024 Fire & Life Safety Conference.
On Monday, March 18, during a regularly scheduled training night, personnel
trained on drafting and rural water supply operations.
On Monday, March 18, crews responded to a motor vehicle crash on Central
Street. The driver denied injury; a signed waiver was obtained.
On Saturday, March 9, members of the department participated in the Fight
for Air Climb - Boston, to raise funds for the American Lung
Association.
On Friday, March 1, Engine 1 secured a landing zone at the High School,
following a pedestrian crash on Washington Street. One patient was
transported by Boston MedFlight to Boston Medical Brigham.
On Thursday, February 29, the department responded to a structure fire on
Shaw Farm Road. One resident was transported to Milford Regional Medical
Center.
On Wednesday, February 28, EMT Rachel Crawford and FF/EMT Brendan Malone
participated in a training exercise with Boston MedFlight.
On Tuesday, February 27, Deputy Alan Greendale delivered an optional
training on leadership to members of the department.
On Monday, February 26, EMS personnel trained in the use of CPAP in the
pre-hospital setting.
On Monday, February 26, Engine 2 secured a landing zone at the High School,
following a medical emergency on Hollis Street. One patient was transported
to UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester by UMass
Memorial LifeFlight.
On Thursday, February 22, the ambulance responded to a motor vehicle crash
on Washington Street. There were no injuries; signed waivers were obtained.
On Thursday, February 15, Chief Cassidy responded mutual aid to Sherborn for
a gas leak on Washington Street; serving as Accountability Officer for the
incident.
On Tuesday, February 13, the department responded to a tree into a house on
Washington Street. There were no injuries.
On Sunday, February 11, personnel from Rescue 1 and Engine 4 trained on ice
rescue.
On Saturday, February 10, Engine 3 responded mutual aid to Ashland for a
structure fire on Central Street.
On Friday, February 9, the department hosted Nero's Law training at
the Johnson Training Room of the Holliston Police Department.
On Friday, February 9, Engine 4 provided station coverage for Medway Fire
while personnel were at a training outside their jurisdiction.
On Monday, February 5, Lieutenant Rich Coughlin trained members of the
department in hazardous materials response.
On Friday, February 2, Ambulance 2 provided station coverage for Sherborn
Fire while personnel were at an awards ceremony.
On Wednesday, January 31, Chief Cassidy lobbied congressional offices with
members of the Holliston Drug and Alcohol Awareness Coalition (HDAAC)
and other MA coaltitions during CADCA's 34th Annual National Leadership
Forum.
On Saturday, January 27, the department co-hosted Narcan training at
the Johnson Training Room of the Holliston Police Department.
On Wednesday, January 24, Chief Cassidy and members of the on-duty ambulance
crew joined a wellness class at the Holliston High School to discuss the
role of EMTs in sports injury management.
On Monday, January 22, members of the department trained in CPR and
Firefighter Down CPR.
On Sunday, January 21, the department hosted Nero's Law training at
the Johnson Training Room of the Holliston Police Department.
On Friday, January 19, Engine 1 responded to a car fire on High Street.
There were no injuries.
On Thursday, January 18, Chief Cassidy and Engine 3 responded mutual aid to

and First Aid at the Johnson Training Room of the Holliston
Police Department.
On Saturday, January 6, members of the ambulance corps covered the primary
and backup ambulances during a Nor'easter.
On Tuesday, January 2, members of the department recertified in CPR, and
reviewed the procedures for conducting CPR on a firefighter wearing personal
protective equipment (PPE).
